Directorial

This is the second year that Cultural Corporation and DABALI Theatre have jointly organized the Buddha Theatre Festival. Last year, we had staged Pratitya Samutpad. This time around we are doing Tathagata Beej, which follow a different style than the last one we did. This play’s style is associated with the movements of body parts and postures. Should we pay attention to holding such festivals beyond the capital city? I think that if the Buddha Theatre Festival was held in every province every year, Cultural Corporation would boost up the morale of the local theatre organizations and artists. Our government organizations dedicated to the preservation and promotion of arts and cultures should pay attention towards this as well.

Synopsis

Having burnt themselves in heat of passion, King Ashoka and Anguliman had adopted the Buddhism. Eventually, they spread the Buddhism all over the world. We are not born criminals. Why can’t we show the seed of peace within ourselves? Everyone has that need within and everyone has to look for that seed within. Only then, he can transform himself into a good person from bad one. Tathagata Beej tells us the same thing. Look for the Buddha within, that seed, which will pave a path of goodness for you. Everything exists within you: good and bad. But just meditate- that seed also lies within you. That Tathagata seed, that seed of Buddha. You are the Banyan tree, under which you undertake penance to find yourself, to transform yourself into good from evil.
